Price Exposes Speaker-Elect Pelosi’s Failure to Honor Word
Republicans Not Allowed to Fully Participate in the Legislative Process

Washington, DC – Rep. Tom Price (GA-06-R) issued the following statement today upon learning of Speaker-Elect Nancy Pelosi’s plan to stifle debate, not allowing Republicans to fully amend legislation during the Democrats’ 100-Hour Plan.

This contradicts her statement May 25, 2006, "Bills should generally come to the floor under a procedure that allows open, full, and fair debate consisting of a full amendment process that grants the minority the right to offer its alternatives, including a substitute.

“Not even in control yet, and Democrats are not honoring their word – breaking promises. Speaker-Elect Pelosi’s comments are an indication that she intends to unfairly run the House with an iron fist. While not a shock, it's hypocritical that someone so interested in full debate before the election is now ready to kill any pretense of honesty in legislation. The American public wants openness and real debate – not a charade. That’s not what they voted for in November."
