House Repeals Onerous Tax Provision in Bipartisan Manner
Washington, D.C.– House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives voted to protect American job creators from a 3% withholding tax.
“With millions of Americans still out of work, it is imperative that Washington take steps to improve the environment for economic growth. At the very least, we should not take more money out of the hands of those who could use that capital to create jobs,” said Chairman Price. “Today the House of Representatives, in a bipartisan manner, voted to repeal a three percent withholding tax that would have been yet another burden on our economy. Washington must not increase the financial and administrative costs job creators face – particularly when so many challenges to growth and entrepreneurial success already exist. The President backs this idea. The Senate should act immediately on this and the many other legislative proposals that have been passed in the House of Representatives to provide greater certainty in the economy and bring a measure of relief to the millions of Americans looking for work.”
