Price Statement on Jobs Report, President’s Latest Economic Speech
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tom Price, M.D. (GA-06), Vice Chairman of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the September jobs report:
“It is always encouraging to see jobs created because each job represents an opportunity for an individual or a family to find more stability and security in their lives. And yet, for millions of Americans, today’s economy is underperforming, and the job market is nowhere near what it ought to be if the policies that President Obama consistently touts were actually living up to the hype. The president’s rhetoric never seems to match the reality.
“The Obama Administration seems to believe that a robust economic recovery is just one more presidential speech away. But Americans are tired of the president’s empty promises. If President Obama wants to talk, he ought to call Majority Leader Reid in the Senate and ask him to take up one of the more than forty jobs bills the House of Representatives has sent over – solutions to rein in regulatory red tape, expand American-made energy, break down barriers to hiring more veterans and empower students and parents. Many of these proposals have bipartisan support. They represent real solutions, not empty rhetoric.”
